The Buffett Romney Rule

In a new commentary, The Buffett Romney Rule, EPI/The Century Foundation Federal Budget Policy Analyst Andrew Fieldhouse explains the need for the Buffet Rule—perhaps better named the Romney Rule, since presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s tax returns epitomize flaws in the tax code—and how it could best be implemented. Equalizing the tax treatment of investment income and wage and salary income would restore fairness to the tax code, temper income inequality and raise much-needed revenue from those who can best afford it.
