The U.S. Senate’s confirmation today of Jared Bernstein as chair of President Biden’s Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) is a victory for working people and the economy as a whole. Bernstein is an exceptionally talented economist who got his start at EPI and whose dedication to creating a just and equitable economy has now spanned positions in three presidential administrations. As a member of Biden’s CEA since 2021, Bernstein has helped oversee a historically fast economic recovery following the pandemic recession. His confirmation as chair recognizes these achievements and the further policy reforms that are needed to build an economy that works for everyone.
